Shannan Hamlin has been appointed by The Methodist Hospital in Houston to its first Nursing Research Fellowship. The purpose of the one-year fellowship is to cultivate developing nurse researchers into clinical nurse scientists. Hamlin has been the Chair of the hospital’s Nursing Shared Governance Research and Evidence-Based Practice Council for the past year. As Research Fellow, Hamlin will build a research trajectory, participate in building a strong nursing research program and seek to have a positive impact on patient care. In addition, she will be leading the nursing department’s collaborative efforts in hospital-wide research, coordinating presentation of all research efforts and handling dissemination of evidence-based practice information at Methodist.

Sharon Hawks has been named assistant director of Duke University School of Nursing’s Nurse Anesthesia Program. Hawks received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Radford University and a master’s degree in nursing from UNC-Greensboro. |

Dianne Holditch-Davis, Marcus Hobbs Distinguished University Professor of Nursing at Duke University, has been named associate dean for research affairs at Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON). She succeeds Elizabeth C. (Jody) Clipp, who held the position since 2005 and oversaw significant growth in the school’s research-supporting infrastructure. Holditch-Davis, an internationally recognized scholar in the field of premature infant behaviors, has published more than 105 manuscripts and 20 book chapters. |

Dorothy A. Jones, professor of adult health nursing at Boston College’s William F. Connell School of Nursing and visiting professor at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, has been appointed director of The Yvonne L. Munn Center for Nursing Research, part of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Patient Care Services in Boston, Massachusetts. As the first nursing research director in the history of MGH, she will work with staff and leadership to advance the work of The Munn Center and cultivate nursing research and scholarship throughout the MGH Nursing Service. Since 2000, when she was appointed senior nurse scientist in The Munn Center, Jones has led the center through a transitional period, identifying the infrastructure and resources required to support nursing research. In addition, she facilitated, implemented and evaluated a variety of innovative initiatives, including the first-of-its-kind Nurse Scientist Advancement Model for doctorally prepared nurses. |

Georgie C. Labadie, professor emeritus of University of Miami (UM) School of Nursing and Health Studies, is among 41 distinguished fellows selected for induction into the National League for Nursing’s Academy of Nursing Education. The NLN established the Academy of Nursing Education earlier this year to foster excellence in nursing education by recognizing and capitalizing on the wisdom of outstanding nurse educators. The newly named fellows, selected by the NLN board of governors, have been chosen for their sustained and significant contributions to the field of nursing education. Labadie joined the faculty of UM’s School of Nursing in 1981. Since that time, she has held several positions including associate dean of graduate studies, associate dean of the School of Nursing, and interim director for the Institute for the Study of Culture and Nursing. Since becoming an emeritus professor in 2004, Labadie has remained actively engaged with UM through a project that mentors young nursing faculty. The NLN’s induction of new fellows and a meeting of fellows in the Academy of Nursing Education will be held in conjunction with the NLN's annual Education Summit, Sept. 26-29 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. |

Camille Lambe has joined Duke University School of Nursing as an assistant clinical professor. Lambe, who completed her post-master’s certificate in oncology and in the geriatric nurse practitioner program at Duke, has extensive oncology and palliative care nursing experience. She has also served as a teaching and research assistant and preceptor for nurse practitioner students. Lambe recently completed her PhD in nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She will hold a joint (half-time) appointment with Hospice of Wake County where she practices as a palliative care nurse practitioner. |
